The 24-Hour Message Window

To maintain a high quality of service, WhatsApp enforces a 24-hour customer service window.

  • Incoming Messages: When a customer sends you a message, the 24-hour window opens. You can send free-form messages to that customer within this timeframe.
  • Window Expiration: If 24 hours pass since the customer's last message, the window closes. You will no longer be able to send regular messages until the customer messages you again or you use a pre-approved Message Template.

Unified Inbox Features

  • Status Indicators:
    • ✓ : Message Sent
    • ✓✓ : Message Delivered to the customer's phone
    • ✓✓ (Read): Message read by the customer
  • Mark as Read: Conversations are automatically marked as read once you click on them in the inbox.
  • Starting a New Chat: You can start a new conversation by clicking the '+' icon and entering the customer's phone number with the global country code (e.g., +509 for Haiti).

Troubleshooting

  • I can't send a message: the 24-hour window is probably closed — ask the customer to message you again or use templates.
  • Messages fail: check your connection and your integration status in settings.
