What is checkout?
Checkout is the final step where a customer reviews their cart, enters shipping and contact information, selects a payment method, and completes the purchase. On Cartva, checkout is the bridge between browsing your storefront and creating an order in your dashboard.
A well-configured checkout reduces abandoned carts, collects the information you need for fulfillment, and presents payment options your customers trust.
Checkout stages
- Cart review — Line items, quantities, and subtotal
- Customer information — Name, email, phone, shipping address
- Shipping selection — Method and cost based on your zones
- Payment — Customer pays via enabled gateway or selects cash on delivery
- Confirmation — Order created and confirmation shown to customer
How it works on Cartva
Checkout settings are managed from Settings in your dashboard.
Configuration options
- Required fields — Choose which contact and address fields are mandatory
- Payment methods — Enable or disable MonCash, PayPal, Stripe, bank transfer, cash on delivery, and others
- Order notes — Allow customers to add delivery instructions
- Legal acknowledgments — Link to terms and privacy policy pages
Payment flow
When a customer selects an online payment method, they are directed to the gateway's secure flow (or embedded form, depending on the method). On success, the order is marked paid and appears in Orders.
For cash on delivery, the order is created with pending payment status. You collect payment at delivery and update the order manually.
Mobile checkout
Most Cartva merchants receive significant traffic from mobile devices. Checkout is designed for small screens with large tap targets and minimal scrolling.
Testing
Before launching, place a test order with a real or sandbox payment method. Verify that totals include tax (if configured), shipping, and discounts correctly.
Who it's for
Checkout customization serves any merchant who needs control over how customers complete purchases.
Good fit:
- Local businesses requiring phone numbers for delivery coordination
- Merchants offering both online payment and cash on delivery
- Stores in Haiti and the Caribbean needing MonCash and NatCash options
- Brands wanting a minimal, fast checkout experience
Default works for:
- Simple catalogs with standard shipping and card payment may need little customization

Pricing model
Checkout functionality is included in your Cartva subscription. No per-checkout fee from Cartva on standard plans.
Customer-facing costs at checkout include:
- Product and shipping prices — Set by you
- Discounts — Applied per your promotion rules
- Payment processing fees — Charged by gateways on successful online payments, not by Cartva directly
Cash on delivery orders avoid online processing fees but carry collection risk you manage at delivery.
